Khaki is a neutral color and hence a great team player. The shade of your khaki pencil skirt plays a big role deciding what colors to wear it with. Lighter shades of khaki work better with pastels e.g. soft pinks, light blues, mint greens, pale yellows, lavender, mauve and light peach just to name a few. Darker shades of khaki tend to work well with bolder colors such as red, royal blue, cobalt blue and sunshine yellow just to name a few.
Matching colors is all good and well but if you don’t know how to actually wear a pencil skirt, matching colors won’t help you. This is why I wrote this article(this will be a hyperlink to the “How to wear a pencil skirt” article) to help you out. Be sure to read it first before continuing here if you don’t know much about pencil skirts. Now let us explore some pencil skirt outfits.
Neutrals for a classic look

Khaki pairs really well with other neutrals such as white, beige, cream or black. It’s a nice and easy way to create a clean and sophisticated look. A simple black long sleeve off the shoulder top paired with a khaki pencil skirt makes for a very cute outfit to go out with.

For a more sexy look don’t be afraid to wear a high waisted khaki pencil skirt with a top that reveals a bit of your chest.
Bold and beautiful

For a more striking and bold look go with some complementary colors. A deep violet or a pinkish purple top will make for a strong eye-catching contrast to your outfit. If you want something more subtle try going with a pale light purple or a pinkish lavender. The above image is an excellent example of going with a light pink short sleeved top and a khaki pencil skirt. For the shoes you can wear some nude high heels. The accessories make it even more sophisticated. A Chanel purse, pearl necklace and some shades will take outfit to the next level.

Here we have an example of the more bold version which combines a deep violet top with a khaki pencil skirt. Notice how the top stands out and acts as a statement piece. A very simple outfit but it looks stunning.
Earthy elegance
If you want a more natural and harmonious feel, green, brown or yellow tops are your go to with a khaki pencil skirt. This is perfect for that earthy outdoorsy look if you like that.

Here we have a nice refreshing look made up of a green turtleneck sweater and a khaki pencil skirt with a navy blue pantyhose. Ideal for cooler weather. For shoes a pair of black heels would go nice with this outfit.

For the yellow top to work with a khaki pencil skirt you need a darker shade of yellow otherwise it does not look as flattering. To add some style don’t be afraid to rock some leopard print heels. This is a perfect business casual outfit.
Don’t be afraid to experiment
So far I have given you relatively “safe” options that work the best in my opinion. But there is more you can do than this. Experiment yourself with different colors and patterns and see what you like. The following will give you some inspiration hopefully.

Try a khaki pencil skirt with some floral patterns. Might be hard to find but its a nice way to make the outfit more casual.

A teal top with some pink heels looks fun doesn’t it.
These were just a few examples to get your mental gears spinning, there is plenty more you can do with a khaki pencil skirt.
